There's no doubt that fall is here. The cool breezy days and even cooler nights are a reminder that it's only going to get colder from here. With new seasons come new foods, adventures and memories. Now I have to start transitioning my closet and shoe selection in order to coordinate with the weather. It's a sad feeling when you can't throw on a pair of flip flops and leave the house. Instead you have to pick which boots to wear or which shoes are going to be warmest.
Despite wardrobe struggles, New Englanders make the most out of fall every year. There are countless apple picking farms, hay rides and fairs. Yesterday, I went apple picking at a farm about 25 minutes away in Cumberland called, Orchard Hill Farm. The trees were bountiful and the barn was filled with the scent of apples, cinnamon, cider and freshly baked donuts. Yes, I got a half dozen donuts because they were so soft and delicious. We also totaled about 40 apples in our bag. Might I add, the bag was only $11. Makenzie cooked up her apples and made a heavenly smelling applesauce. But me...I've just been boring and cutting up apples to snack on.
I've been on an oatmeal kick lately. I cook up steel cut oats and add milk, cinnamon and a tiny bit of maple syrup ones they're done cooking. So warm and satisfying.
Well, I'm about to head off to work so I hope everyone has a nice day and an even better weekend!
