This semester is officially over! I am beyond excited. Between 6 classes, volunteering, and working, I deserve the summer. Plus, this weather has been an amazing way to end the semester and welcome the warmth! I've leapt out of bed the past couple of mornings to run outside. Why run on the treadmill when you can run beside the ocean?
Not to mention, this is a quarter mile away from my apartment. I consider myself pretty lucky. After the 3.5 mile run, I did a back-squat and ab workout at the gym. My stomach was growling to tell me that I was famished. I usually drink a protein shake after the gym, but today I decided to have a smoothie instead. Smoothies remind me of summer, which makes me super happy. After I rushed home, I whipped up a blueberry banana protein smoothie.
Blueberry Banana Protein Smoothie:
1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop Isopure creamy vanilla protein powder
a few ice cubes
Blend until the smoothie is 'smooth'..duh.
Banana tip: freeze ripe bananas. Don't throw them out because they are turning brown! Frozen bananas are amazing to throw into smoothies and use for banana ice cream. Banana ice cream can be made by blending frozen, ripe bananas. The consistency is identical to ice cream! Thick and naturally sweet. Add cinnamon and you have yourself a delicious and natural treat. I will post some banana ice cream recipes soon :)
Once the blender has done its work, pour into a glass and enjoy.
So thick and sweet. Perfect start to the day and the best post-workout treat.
I guess I really like purple. Purple/blue-ish smoothie with a purple straw, purple shorts, purple yoga mat. Color coordination makes me feel like I have my priorities straightened out.
After a nice stretch on yoga mat in my living room, I felt ready to conquer the day. The effects of working out in the morning can be seen throughout my day. I feel productive, energized, and positive after my morning workouts. I'm happy to say that I'm a morning person.
